Since we started The Fly in Safari Company™ in 2010, one of the very first things we discussed, was that we should have a blog where we can share our in-depth knowledge about our destinations, travel tips we gained through extensive travels in Africa, stories from our guided tours and safaris, and just all round relevant and engaging posts that can be beneficial to the reader and our clients, particularly those who plan to visit Africa, and those returning.
We come from a background in adventure travel tours across the African continent. We started in the overlanding industry and worked for the leading adventure travel operators in the world for many years, prior to starting our company.
The years prior to starting The Fly in Safari Company™ was a huge learning opportunity to get to know the African countries, the explorer’s routes, destinations, cultures, wildlife, natural wonders, customs and traditions, and group dynamics (small, large and private), first hand!
More importantly, those years taught us how to understand and often innerstand, the most important aspect of what we do, creating meaningful experiences for the guests who entrust us to manage their experience in Africa. At the end of the day, we do what we do for the traveller, the visitor that often save up for years, to visit Africa. This is a big deal, and a special privilege.
Now, finally getting to the part that makes us unique, and different from other operators. When we left the adventure travel industry, we knew very well, if we start our own travel company, and do what the operators do that we worked for, we will just be ‘another company’ that do what the rest does, a copycat so to speak.
We came up with the idea to create our own unique travel style, the privately guided Fly in Safari Tour™, our signature travel style. How is this different from the already known Fly in and Fly Out? The difference is that we replace the tour bus with a light aircraft, the driver is replaced with a pilot, and the guide leads the tour group on a multi-country, multi-week tour.
It is not just Fly-in and Fly-out, but the aircraft and pilot stays with the group for the entire tour, it’s a full-on itinerary with a professional guide, pilot and aircraft.
